Carson Hotsprings

Private resort

Healing waters await in Washington.

Tucked into southern Washington is an ideal spot for rejuvenation and pure relaxation—Carson Hotsprings. As the name implies the main feature of this perfect place to road trip is its natural spring water pool and baths. With temperatures that hover between 93 and 104 degrees the water will melt away that kink in your neck, pain in your back, and tightness in your legs.

But that’s not all. Bubbling up from well below the earth’s surface, the spring water is rich in minerals that are said to rid the body of toxins and help create smooth clear skin. You can soak in the mineral pool, or for a more private affair visit the 1930’s era bathhouses where a clawfoot tub filled with the healing waters awaits.

To be clear, this is not the kind of spa for the rich and famous, but rather a retreat for those who want to escape and rejuvenate in peaceful surroundings.

The springs were discovered by Isadore St. Martin when he was out on a hunting expedition. With a wife at home who suffered from severe pain, St. Martin considered the healing effects the springs might bring. Turns out his theory was right and once he was able to purchase the property and get his wife into the pools, her condition dramatically improved.

As word spread, a hotel, bathhouse, and cabins were built to accommodate those seeking relief. The original historic buildings have been modernized but are still used today. The spring’s healing power is the same driver for the resort that now provides the opportunity to not just soak in the mineral springs but also to take in a linen wrap and massage.

To be clear, this is not the kind of spa for the rich and famous, but rather a retreat for those who want to escape and rejuvenate in peaceful surroundings. The hotel rooms are simple but offer everything you need including hot tubs on the balconies and fireplaces!

For those who want a little bit more “resort” in their weekend retreat, the 18-hole Elk Ridge Golf Course stands ready to offer a challenging game as well as beautiful scenery. You can even get a glimpse of the Columbia River Gorge as you tee up.

Joining the golf course is the Elk Ridge Clubhouse to provides just the meal you need to refresh from a game or a day of self-care.

When a crazy week at work, everyday challenges, and mishaps, leave you pulling out your hair, take a detour to Washington and revive at Carson Hotsprings. Your body and mind will thank you.
