You Depend On Your Car, And Your Car Depends On You
The holidays often prompt us to start thinking about what we want to do or change over the coming year - maybe we’ll get in shape, spend more time with family and friends, eat more vegetables. When we’re creating this new roadmap for our lives, why don’t we include plans for our automobiles? Thanks to our cars, we take road trips, we take drives, we take friends out. This holiday season, in the spirit of giving, think about adding these resolutions to your list and let’s make 2018 a safer, more enjoyable trip around the sun.
Car Resolution #1 - Get Scheduled Maintenance
This one may seem obvious but our lives get so busy this task sometimes gets pushed. Keeping up with oil changes and regular maintenance is the best way to keep car parts moving smoothly and prevent dirt and sludge from clogging up your engine.
At Sherwood Auto Repair, it’s common for us to service vehicles with 2-300,000 miles on them that are still running and driving well. These belong to customers who understand that servicing and maintaining vehicles properly can make them last well over the 100,000 mile mark many manufacturers and automobile agencies use as their standard vehicle life expectancy.
Schedule an appointment for your next oil service and consultation. We’ll work with you to see that you achieve the goals you’ve set for your vehicle, helping you get the highest level of reliability at the lowest overall cost.
Car Resolution #2 - Keep An Eye On Alignment
Tires and suspension need to be carefully monitored. Experts suggest checking your tire pressure once a month or so to be sure they’re inflated properly. Not to worry - there’s a gauge for that. Do you have one? Perhaps the better question is, do you use it? Improperly inflated tires can also affect gas mileage and performance. If you’re not sure if your tires are wearing evenly or if you feel any kind of wobble, come in and let us check it out.
Car Resolution #3 - Ditch the Distractions
We see it every time we’re on the road - the person next to you is so busy texting they don’t even know the light changed. Or worse, they’re texting and weaving around while they do it, endangering themselves and others. Make sure you and your family members are aware of the new Oregon distracted driving law and keep both hands on the wheel.
Car Resolution #4 - Drive Smarter
Driving aggressively is not only dangerous, it causes more wear on your vehicle, can damage brakes and rotors, and uses more fuel. Drive smarter and save money by keeping a safe distance from cars in front of you, and avoiding hard acceleration and slamming on your brakes.
Car Resolution #5 - Keep it Clean
It’s not just for appearances. Keeping the interior and exterior of your car clean is not only more pleasant for you and your passengers, it helps your car maintain its value.
As you plan and budget for the year ahead, give your trusted vehicle the care it deserves and you’ll avoid major problems down the road while keeping your car on the road longer.
From everyone at Sherwood Auto Repair, best wishes for a safe and happy New Year!
